First Wedding at 40 !

The weekend was fun.. starting with a 14 hour drive from Detroit to Charleston, SC... in a Honda Civic Hybrid.. which means we did not stop for gas (and a pee break) for over 5 hours. At my age, "holding it" is not supposed to be good ! BUT.. 45 miles to the gallon was nice.

The wedding was for a good friend who was getting married for her first time at 42 years of age. At 42 you had better get it right, otherwise you wont have time to figure it out and try again. I think she picked the right guy.

Weddings for people over 40 are much, much tamer. There was plenty of food .. in fact, great food.. typical of an over-40 wedding; and plenty of booze.. great booze. BUT.. the craziness of a under - 30 wedding did not occur, even though some young nubile nieces (under 20) tried to get it going. The over 40 crowd just could not hang in there as late as these young things wanted to party.

SO.. to my children... do not wait TOO long to get married. The older you get the more sedate your reception will be... which can be a good thing !!!
