THANKSGIVING
Well..another Thanksgiving Day has come and gone !! It was the usual set of relatives.. along with the usual food stuffs. The turkey was great, and all the side dishes turned out ok. After the carnage was over, I thought.. "Who started this food frenzy fiasco anyways? Why do I kill myself every year to put food enough for 20 people on the table?".

I can not believe that when the Pilgrims realized that their crops were going to survive.. and that they persoanlly were not going to be killed by the native Americans who land they had invaded.. that they thought "Lets cook up a mess of food.. more than we could ever eat in a week.. and stuff our faces until our guts ache !" Then again, maybe they did !! I was not there . What do I know ?

My daughter actually had Thanksgiving dinner with her friend at a nice restuarant. Not a home cooked meal. As she pointed out, the food was great. The turkey was moist (not overcooked), the mashed potatoes were smooth (no lumps), the gravy was good (no burnt flavor)..BUT.. it was not Thanksgiving ! Where were all the mistakes that a traditional Thanksgiving dinner cooked at home as in it. That is what is memorable.

SO, Thanksgiving once again comes down to.. NOT the food and the volumes we consume.. but the family, friends, and funny little stories that occur when peoiple get together and cook food together. Like the time my daughter's baking treat turned out to be quite tatsy.. BUT.. it looked terrible.

HAVE A GREAT ONE !!
