Halloween Ain't What it Used to Be !

All the goblins, witches, boys in drag, super heroes, and other neat outfits have been lining up outside our front door since 5:00 pm.. BEFORE DARK !! We get over 400 people .. I can not say kids, because there are a lot of teenagers and adults in the crowd.

You ask, how can 400 people live in our neighborhood ? Well they dont. The crowds are literally bussed (and car'd and van'd) in to this close in suburb of a major urban city. We start giving out treats around 5 pm and have never made it past 7 pm before we just run out of candy. Our record is over 500 pieces of candy.. a few years ago. We may break that record tonight since it is a beautiful night out !

It is a shame that the kids (and their adult companions) feel that they have to drive their little goblins (et. al.) into our neighborhood where it is safer.. and the treats are better.. and their little one dont have to fell afraid of bad candy or bullies.

So.. we give out 400 - 500 pieces of candy and make fun of the teenagers who have really lame costumes. Do you know that most of the kids do NOT know the entire obligatory poem.....

Trick or treat..
Smell my feet..
Give me something good to eat.

To think this all started as a praise to the dead ones who would raise from the dead and go to heaven on November 1, 2004. According to the Catholics. that is.

Later...
